100% Zero-Cookie Architecture

Cookie Policy

We don't use cookies. Here is why you never need a consent banner with Tracabit.

Zero Cookies Set on Your Visitors' Devices

Tracabit does not write or read cookies (document.cookie remains entirely empty). We do not use persistent identifiers, canvas fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking pixels.

1. How Anonymous Sessions Work Without Cookies

Traditional analytics platforms rely on persistent third-party and first-party cookies (e.g. _ga, _gid) to track users over weeks and months. This triggers mandatory consent obligations under the EU ePrivacy Directive (Article 5(3)) and GDPR.

Tracabit replaces cookies with ephemeral, privacy-safe techniques:

  • Session Storage: Short-lived session persistence within an active browser tab using standard browser memory (sessionStorage), automatically purged when the user closes the tab.
  • Passive djb2 Hashing: Daily non-reversible mathematical hashing combining IP, User-Agent, and a daily rotating salt to compute 30-minute deduplication without storing raw hardware signatures.

2. Why Cookie Banners Are Legally Not Required

Under the European Union ePrivacy Directive and UK PECR regulations, cookie banners are only mandatory when an organization stores or accesses non-essential information on a user's terminal equipment.

Because Tracabit:

  1. Does not place cookies or tracking beacons on the visitor's computer
  2. Does not track visitors across different domain names
  3. Does not share or monetize behavioral data

Websites powered solely by Tracabit are completely exempt from intrusive cookie banners, improving initial page conversion by up to 28%.

3. Policy Updates

If our architectural approach to terminal storage ever changes, we will update this document and notify all tenant administrators.
